In addition to redundant communications and redundant Generic I/O Modules, some applications require redundancy on individual channels
Use a redundant Field Terminal Blocks (FTB840) paired with two Signal Conditioning Modules (SCM) of the same type to add redundant channels.
Non-redundant and redundant channels can be mixed in the same MTU.
SCMs that support redundancy:

A single channel, late binding, Ethernet I/O solution that decouples project tasks and promotes standardization:
Take the drama out of your next project with System 800xA's Select I/O
Select I/O is part of System 800xA's Flexible I/O Solutions offering that includes the following components:
Most installations will use ABB's state of the art 10 or 20 amp power supplies that provide high efficiency with low power dissipation.
The Ethernet FCI interfaces the I/O to the AC 800M controllers:
NOTE: The same Ethernet FCI components are used for both Select I/O and S800 I/O on Ethernet.
Signal Conditioning Modules (SCMs):

Generic IO Modules (GIOs):
Each Select I/O MTU:
The same MTU is used for process, safety and IS applications and include:
NOTE: Ground Termination and Ground Fault Detection available in same form factor as SCMs.
Each Signal Conditioning Module (SCM) has a mechanical slider switch with 3 positions.
The field disconnect mode isolates the field wiring protecting the SCM during commissioning and removes power to ensure personnel safety.
With Select I/O , late changes are easily accommodated.
